Mission Statement

The mission of The City of Hobbs Public Transportation Department, Hobbs Express, is to provide reliable safe, dependable transportation through the operation of a demand-response/handicapped-accessible public transportation program and a fixed route shuttle loop/handicapped-accessible transportation program. We provide high quality responsive service to our citizens, delivered through commitment to team work and professionalism in the work place. We constantly strive to conduct ourselves in an ethical, impartial and equitable manner at all times. Our high standards of quality and integrity will merit the public’s confidence in the duties performed by the Hobbs Express staff and in the community. This vital program for the citizens of Hobbs is provided six days a week for demand response, and six days per week for the fixed route within the five mile addressing area for the City of Hobbs.

 

Description of Transit Program

Currently the Hobbs Express provides two types of service, demand response transportation service; and fixed route service. All Hobbs Express vehicles are ADA accessible including wheelchair lifts and tie-downs. This vital program for the citizens of Hobbs is provided six days per week within the five mile addressing area for the City of Hobbs.

The demand response, curb-to-curb transportation service and the fixed routes are available to all members of the Hobbs community on a first-come, first-served basis to employment, medical care, shopping, and education and recreation facilities. Passengers on the demand response are encouraged to make reservations at least twenty-four hours in advance to ensure the ride time requested. Same day service is provided as space is available. Rides may be scheduled for the current week plus one additional week as schedule permits.

The Hobbs Express serves any location within the city limits of Hobbs and within the five mile addressing area. Included in this service area are the Lea County Airport, New Mexico Junior College, Lea Regional Hospital, University of the Southwest, and the Texas/New Mexico State Line.

Hobbs Express observes all state holidays.
